Mark Kalin


Mark Kalin FAIA FCSI LEED is CEO of Kalin Associates, an independent specification consulting firm with 40 years experience,and 12 specification writers.  Formerly, Mark has been President of SCIP, Chair of the CSI MasterFormat Maintenance Task Team, Chair of the CSI Technical Committee, Founder and Chair of the CSI Sustainable Facilities Practice Group, and Chair of the AIA Masterspec Review Committee.  Mark is the author of the original GreenSpec (1996), Construction Specifications (Wiley) and has taught at Harvard University Graduate School of Design.

Mitch Miller


Mitch Miller received his Degree in Architecture in 1973. He started with F&M Associates, worked with Mack Trucks as in-house architect, was in a management position with Garrett, served as Project Architect with Batten Architects and joined USA Architects as Directory of Specifications. Mitch formed M2 architectural resources, LLC in 2017, focusing on three major areas; Project Management; Specification Writing; Quality Assurance / Quality Control. As a member of CSI serving as Director for the Middle Atlantic Region and Institute Vice President, he brings extensive experience in the design of Religious Facilities, Healthcare, Assisted Living, K-12, Higher Education and Corporate Environments. Mitch currently serves as the Education Chair for SCIP.

Vivian Volz



Vivian Volz is an independent specifier for commercial, public, and multifamily projects in California and beyond. She is the founder of VVAS, a four-person consulting firm. Vivian has served as a local and national leader in CSI and currently serves SCIP as Immediate Past President.

Ron Geren



Ronald L. Geren is the owner of RLGA Technical Services, a specifications and building code consulting firm in Scottsdale, Arizona. He has over 35 years of experience in the design and construction industry. Ron is the author of Applying the Building Code: Step-by-Step Guidance for Design and Building Professionals and has coauthored CSI’s Project Delivery Practice Guide and Construction Specifications Practice Guide. He is a past chair of the AIA MasterSpec Architectural Review Committee and has served on the AIA Codes and Standards Committee. Ron is a former CSI Board of Directors chair and currently serves as the CSI Foundation Board of Trustees chair.

Greg Markling



Greg is a senior building information management consultant with iBIMsolutions, llc, with 49+ years of experience as a practicing architect, specification writer, and construction contract administrator. He is a 43-year member of CSI, past president of the CSI Denver Chapter, current president of the CSI Tucson Chapter, a former Institute Board member, and former chair of the Institute Certification and Education Committees, and is a former Institute President. Greg is a Fellow of the Construction Specifications Institute, Lifetime Member, Distinguished Member, Certified Construction Specifier and Certified Construction Contract Administrator, and is also a LEED Accredited Professional.

Thomas Yocum



Tom practices law in areas relating to construction, business, corporate, insurance, creditors’ rights, commercial litigation, mediation, and arbitrations. His experience spans a broad range of project types. Tom is admitted to practice law in Ohio, Kentucky, Florida, and in multiple federal courts, including the United States Supreme Court. Tom has been active with various construction organizations and is a member of the American Arbitration Association Panel of Arbitrators and Mediators for the Construction Industry.

Margaret Chewning



As a Specifications Consultant and Construction Administrator, Margaret Chewning FCSI CCS has been active in the construction communications process for over 50 years. She has also made it a specialty to work with the government mandated specification system SpecsIntact. Her knowledge of the system in combination with her expertise as a specifier makes the editing of UFGS sections more efficient, with less DrChecks formatting comments during review. Ms. Chewning is a member of the Construction Specifications Institute College of Fellows and was active with the Old Dominion University and Hampton University Student Affiliates of CSI. She has served on the Institute Certification Committee preparing questions for Construction Specifier and Construction Administration Certification examinations. She has served as the Middle Atlantic Region CSI as President, and The Tidewater VA Chapter CSI as Certification chair and three terms as Chapter President.

Larry Hale



40 years’ experience in the architectural field brings a comprehensive architectural and technical knowledge to each project. Larry’s experience encompasses design, documentation, architectural project management, construction administration, and warranty work / resolution. A registered Architect, Larry worked his way up and was a partner of the firm where he spent approximately 25 years of his career before leaving and starting his own consulting firm which specializes in architectural specifications. Through his career, he has worked on projects in multiple states, American Samoa, and the Bahamas. Larry’s specification clients and project locations currently include Florida, South Carolina, Maryland, Colorado and Hawaii.

Eric D. Ledbetter



Eric Letbetter is an NCARB Certified Architect and CSI Certified Construction Specifier with over three decades of experience in the field. As the founder of Letbetter ink, LLC, Eric now leverages his extensive architectural and specification writing expertise to provide high-quality specification writing, specification writing teaching, and quality control services for the construction industry. His diverse portfolio includes transportation architecture, golf clubs, retail spaces, churches, educational facilities, multi-family housing projects, hospitality design, interior design, private sector aviation, and parking structures.

David Combs



With over 35 years of architectural experience in a broad range of market sectors, building types, and construction types, David is primarily responsible for the preparation of specifications for Jordan Consultants, serving as a technical resource to clients and project teams during design and preparation of construction documents. David is currently a Certified Construction Specifier, Certified Construction Contract Administrator, and has served on CSI’s National Specifications Competition Committee and National Certification Committee.  In addition, David has been teaching professional development courses in specifications, written construction documents, and construction contract administration at the local level for over 30 years.  He is a past President of the Dallas Chapter of CSI, and previously served for five years on the AIA national MasterSpec Architectural Review Committee, the final two years as Committee Chairman.

Linda Stansen



Linda Stansen worked as an architect for over 30 years in various architectural firms, writing specifications in addition to project management, before starting her consulting practice, Stansen Specifications. Her specifications projects have ranged through commercial, educational (both K-12 and university level), historical renovation and restoration, research facilities, sports complexes, parking structures, hospitality, medical outpatient and clinics, places of worship, and residential developments. Linda is licensed in Colorado and California, and active in several industry organizations.

David Proudfit



David has over 40 years of experience in the design and construction industry. He has held management and technical positions with various professional design firms and has specialized in specifications writing for the last 26 years. He has been owner of Proudfit Associates, LLC, a specifications consulting firm for the last 13 years. His experience covers a wide variety of construction projects, including K-12 and higher education, hospitality, multi-family housing, retail, laboratory, commercial, military, and government. David is actively involved in the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) where he has earned CCS, been awarded fellow and has served as Ohio Valley Chapter president, Great Lakes Region President, Institute director, and Institute vice-president. David is also a member of the Specifications Consultants in Independent Practice (SCIP) and the American Institute of Architects (AIA).


Lisa Murray



A graduate of Texas A&M and Art Institute of Houston, with degrees in Marketing and Interior Design. Lisa has over 25 years’ experience in commercial architecture, residential development, and writing specifications. She made the transition to independent specification consultant in 2008, serving firms primarily in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Arizona. Lisa is currently serving as SCIP Vice President and chairs the Electronic Communication Committee. She is active in the Houston Chapter of CSI, previously serving as a director, and will be serving as the VP of Education in the upcoming year. She is currently part of a three person team that began teaching a CDT Bootcamp.

Brian Conroy



As graduate from The Kings College New York City, Brian T. Conroy has over 35 years’ experience with a unique background in construction and non-profit organizations, as well as music business and youth organizations. Brian is currently the National Director of Strategic Partnerships & Northeast Specifications & Product Specialist for a Master Wall Inc, a national manufacturer of EIFS, CIFS and other exterior façade materials and is responsible for identifying and implementing goals both short term and long term. He works closely with the distribution, architects, owners, general contractors, and applicators to build and strengthen relationships and help with design details, specifications and product selection.

Meaghan Elfert



With over a decade of dedicated service at York Flashings, Meagan Elfert, CDT, MBA, CBS currently serves as Vice President, bringing strategic leadership and a results-driven approach to York. She manages York’s sales team across all regions of the USA, ensuring that York remains a leader in the building products industry and reinforcing York’s reputation for quality and innovation. Meagan gives presentations on flashing and transition compatibility, sustainability, and performance to the AEC community across the country. She also provides educational sessions for contractors and performs job site visits to bring installers the latest technology and best flashing practices.

Greg Markling

Megan Golden



Megan specializes in Commercial Construction Cost Estimating and Project Cost Analytics. With over 19 years of experience in Commercial Cost Estimating, Ms. Golden provides cost consulting and expert services for Project Budget Development, Design Phase Construction Estimates and Cost Evaluation. Megan has extensive experience working with and managing the Procurement Process as well as supporting CM / GC Field Staff in their assessments of bids and owner supplied materials. Prior to becoming the Lead Estimator for a Global 500 Firm she spent eight years in the field, managing projects, for a General Contractor on various projects.

Karla Wursthorn



Karla Wursthorn, CPE, LEED AP BD+C, has over 30 years of experience in the construction industry and has performed a variety of functions including estimating, marketing and project management. Educated as an architect at the University of Notre Dame, her prior experience includes working for both an architectural and a design/build firm. She currently oversees TN Ward Company’s business development and estimating efforts. Karla was also an Adjunct Instructor at Thomas Jefferson University, teaching Construction Materials and Methods for 9 years. She served three terms as President of the Philadelphia Chapter of the American Society of Professional Estimators and  is a current Chairperson of the ASPE Certification Committee and past member and Chairperson of the ASPE National Standards Committee.

Mark Ogg



Mark has over 31 years' experience in the construction industry, and is a credentialed CCCA, CDT, and PMP, with an extensive background in cost estimating and project controls, work process development, technical design development, construction safety, contract negotiation, mentoring, and workforce development. Mark manages the facility project life cycle from conception through operation and is currently the past president of the CSINext Chapter, Vice President of the CSI Great Lakes Region, and serves on the Editorial Advisory Committee for Construction Specifier Magazine. Mark currently serves as a Senior Project Manager and Owner's Representative with a global commercial real estate services firm.

Ben Dykstra



Ben Dykstra is the Vice President of Quality Management for Pepper Construction in Indiana. He transitioned into quality management in 2012, with a passion for not only planning and execution work, but also overall functionality and life cycle building performance. In 2019, Ben contributed to the formation of BEC Indiana and currently serves as the BEC Indiana Vice Chairman of the Board. Ben holds a Bachelor of Arts in Engineering from Wheaton College and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology. He is a Registered Roof Observer (RRO), Registered Exterior Wall Observer (REWO), a Building Enclosure Commissioning Process Provider (BECxP), an Accredited Commissioning Authority + Building Enclosure (CxA+BE), and a Construction Documents Technologist (CDT).

Edmund Brown



Edmund Brown has been a project architect and spec writer with the Etica Group, an A/E firm in Indianapolis, IN for the pass 4 years. He has been in the design profession for over 20 years and has been a member of CSI for just as long. Edmund has served as president of the Indianapolis CSI Chapter, president of the CSI Great Lakes Region, and is currently serving on the CSI National Board of Directors. He has been involved in all aspects of design and construction administration for a variety of project types from new construction to renovations. Edmund graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2000, with a bachelor’s degree in architecture.

Dean E. Craft has presented more than 1000 times on how to proactively address concrete moisture in the design phase. Dean is a voting member of both the ASTM F06 Committee on Resilient Flooring and Committee D08 on Roofing and Waterproofing and is the principal author and technical chair of three published ASTMs associated with the installation of resilient flooring on concrete substrates and one currently undergoing balloting associated with installing roofs on concrete decks.

Ryan Dalgleish



Ryan has been involved in the building enclosure and building performance areas of construction for over 25 years, focusing on super energy efficient buildings and long-term sustainability. Ryan obtained credentials in Adult Education and Leadership from the University of Manitoba and has been mentored and trained by some of the best building scientists in the world. Ryan is a certified Net Zero building instructor and is a frequent speaker at various technical events and conferences and has published numerous papers and articles in major trade magazines.
